DTI reminds imposition of price freeze in SOC areas

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminded the implementation of a price freeze in areas under state of calamity especially on basic necessities such as agricultural products and manufactured food products.

The provinces of Cavite, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes declared a state of calamity due to the massive destruction brought about by typhoon #RollyPH.

DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo disclosed that the prices of basic commodities can be decreased if possible, but not increase. She also warned violators that the penalty for illegal acts of price manipulation under the Price Act is PhP 5,000 to PhP 2,000,000.
