Puerto Princesa to experience 9-hour blackout Monday

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — A nine-hour power outage has been scheduled by the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) on 29 of 66 barangays in this city on Monday in oder to relocate three electric posts from a private property.

This was disclosed by PALECO spokesperson Vicky Basilio to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) in a phone interview on Sunday.

The scheduled service interruption, she said, will be from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for linemen of the electric cooperative to move three posts in National Highway, Barangay San Manuel to a new location that is also not far from the said area.

“They will be transferred a few meters away from where they are as they are in the right of way of a private property that is constructing a building. This activity has been cancelled twice due to heavy rains,” she explained.

The electric posts serve as double circuit, she furthered, for independent power producer (IPP) Delta P’s tie line that connects San Jose and Iwahig circuits.

“Our hope is that residents who will be affected will be patient regarding this activity,” she said.

The San Jose Circuit covers Villa Mervelyn, Mendoza Ville, Typoco, and Sir John Subdivision in Barangay San Manuel; Princeville, NHA Ville and Alta Homes in Barangay San Jose; and barangays Tagburos, Sta Lourdes, Bacungan, Sta Cruz, Salvacion, Bahile, Macarascas, Manalo, Maryugon, Lucbuan, Maoyon, Babuyan, San Rafael, Tanabag, Concepcion, Binduyan and Langogan.

Iwahig Circuit, on the other hand, covers barangays Tiniguiban, Sta Monica, Sicsican, Irawan, Iwahig, Montible, Napsan, Sta Lucia, Luzviminda, and Mangingisda. (PNA)
