Marcos camp denies involvement in Leonen impeachment complaint

The camp of former senator and 2016 vice presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. denied involvement in the filing of impeachment complaint against Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.

“Sen. Bongbong is not connected and has nothing to do with the impeachment complaint filed against Associate Justice Leonen,” Marcos’ legal counsel Atty. Vic Rodriguez disproved.
He also stated that the camp “refrain(s) from commenting on an event or case where we are not a party as it is inappropriate for anyone to make wild accusation on something that they have no basic comprehension of the allegations.”

A month ago, former Sen. Marcos asked Leonen to inhibit from the poll protest case against Vice President Leni Robredo, claiming that “he will not be a fair and impartial ponente (author) in the instant electoral protest.”

The impeachment complaint was filed Monday against SC Assoc. Justice Leonen with the House of Representatives. Flag-Maharlika Secretary General Edwin Cordevilla, with former senatorial candidate Atty. Larry Gadon as his legal counsel, filed the complaint against Justice Leonen accusing the latter of culpable violation of the Constitution due to delaying 37 cases, and betrayal of public trust as Leonen allegedly submitted an incomplete Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth (SALN). – Report from Kenneth Paciente
