Taguig City cop nabbed for kotong

A PHILIPPINE National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG-led entrapment operation in Taguig City resulted in the arrest of an erring member of the Tipas Police Sub Station, PS 5 , Taguig City Police Station for robbery (extortion), OIC, Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group said.

In a report to PNP Chief, General DEBOLD M SINAS, the official said that the rogue policeman identified as Police Staff Sergeant Carlo Marsaba Sison was arrested in a sting at corner C6, Napindan Road. Brgy Napindan , Taguig City 7:45 PM today.

PCOL FRIAS JR said that the entrapment operation was conducted following a complaint regarding the extortion activities of PSSg Sison conducted by joint teams of the IMEG NCR Field Unit, the NCRPO Regional Intelligence Division under BGEN VICENTE DANAO and 35th SAC, 3rd SAB, PNP SAF.

“This is in line with our continuing effort to identify and arrest ‘so-called ‘kotong’ policemen as part of the massive internal cleansing program ordered by Gen. Sinas,” said Frias.

PCOL FRIAS JR said that during the sting, the suspect was caught in the act of receiving cash amounting to Fifteen Thousand (Php 15,000.00) Pesos in different denominations as marked money from the complainant. The official said they placed the suspect under surveillance after the owner of small business in Taguig City sought their help in apprehending the accused. It turned out that the suspect contacted the complainant and informed him that his name was included in the list of drug personalities in their area being targeted for neutralization.

During their talk, the suspect told the complainant he could remove his name in the list for Php 15,000. ” It turned out that the suspect was just using the scheme to mulct money from unsuspecting civilians in his area. We are now investigating if he had also victimized several other people before he was arrested,” PCOL FRIAS said. OIC IMEG said that the suspect was found in possession of his PNP-issued Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol , Cash amounting to Fifteen Thousand (Php 15,000.00) Pesos in different denominations as marked money; Two (2) units of cellular phones.

“Internal Cleansing Program doesn’t stop there, rather it will continue to be implemented IMEG will not tolerate any wrongdoings of police officers,we will have to arrest you and put you in jail” PCOL FRIAS JR said.

The suspect who is now under the custody of the PNP-IMEG was ordered disarmed and charged criminally and administratively by BGEN DANAO.

The arrest of Sison came amid an appeal by the PNP-IMEG for the public to report the presence of rogue policemen and other government workers to their hotlines 09989702286 (Smart) or 09957952569 (Globe) and rest be assured that their complaint will be investigated thoroughly.
