Proposed 2021 budget transmitted to Duterte’s office

The copy of the proposed ₱4.5 trillion national budget of the country for next year is now up for the signature of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Office of the Executive Secretary disclosed on Friday afternoon that the proposed budget ratified by Congress has reached the Office of the President (OP).

Both houses of Congress have approved the bicameral conference committee report on the proposed budget last December 9.

This includes funding for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines which are expected to arrive in the Philippines in 2021.

Malacañang earlier assured that President Duterte will thoroughly review the budget and will have it signed on time to avoid a reenacted budget.

Data released by Senator Sonny Angara last week showed that the Department of Education (DepEd) has been allotted the biggest portion of the budget, followed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of National Defense (DND), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). – PTV News Online, with reports from Mela Lesmoras
