BSP: Gradual easing of transportation access to help economic recovery in 2021

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is optimistic that the gradual easing of access to transportation will greatly help in the recovery of the economy this 2021.

In the last months, the strict implementation of the guidelines in transportation has contributed to the country’s inflation causing the increase in prices of several products and services.

BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno is hoping for a positive effect of infrastructure projects such as the Skyway in order to achieve an uncomplicated trade and connectivity in the Philippines.

The BSP is also optimistic about the further growth of the overseas Filipino remittances in 2021.

Gov. Diokno stated that the training and education of healthcare workers and other in-demand jobs must be enhanced for Filipinos to have a better work quality abroad.

“There are many more projects that are near completion. We are able to inter-connect the whole Philippines and that is the whole idea of the Build, Build, Build program which we now call Build, Build, Build plus to include infrastructure programs with respect to IT and health.” – Report from Naomi Tiburcio
