Makati City reroutes traffic near South Cemetery

MANILA — The Makati City local government has implemented a traffic rerouting scheme along the Manila South Cemetery in line with its implementation of ‘Oplan Kaluluwa’ for the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.

In its traffic advisory, the Makati City Public Safety Department (PSD) said that parts of Kalayaan Avenue, South Avenue, Vito Cruz and Pililia Street are closed to motorists from midnight of October 30 until midnight of November 2. These are as follows:

Kalayaan Ave. — from Zapote to N. Garcia

South Ave. — from Metropolitan to J.P. Rizal

Vito Cruz — from South Ave. to Zapote

Pililia St. — from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan

The PSD advises motorists to expect heavy traffic near the South Cemetery and take alternate routes.

Rerouting will be implemented in the following areas:

From Guadalupe Area to Manila – take J.P. Rizal Ave. toward destination

From Manila to Guadalupe Area – take J.P. Rizal Ave. toward destination

From Ayala Central Business District (CBD) to Circuit Makati – take Ayala Ave., left turn Yakal St., right turn Pasong Tamo toward destination

From Zapote to Ayala CBD – take J.P. Rizal Ave., right turn N. Garcia, left turn Gil Puyat Ave. toward destination

From EDSA/ Jupiter Area to Vito Cruz – left turn N. Garcia, right turn Gil Puyat Ave. toward destination

From Mandaluyong to CBD – take Makati Ave. toward destination

From Kamagong St. to Jupiter St. – right turn Ayala Ave., loop Ayala Ave. / Gil Puyat Ave., left turn N. Garcia toward destination

The stretch of J.P. Rizal from Pasong Tirad to Makati Avenue and Kalayaan Avenue from Pasong Tirad to Zapote will be opened to two way traffic. On the other hand, Kalayaan Ave. – from N. Garcia to Makati Ave., and Metropolitan Ave. – from South Avenue to N. Garcia, will be on a one-way traffic. (PNA)
