Dacera case prelim probe begins today

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is currently considering five or six persons of interest in the case of flight attendant Christine Dacera.

They are among the guests of hotel room number 2207 who have been identified by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Based on a CCTV footage, several men were seen entering the elevator of City Garden Hotel around 8 a.m. of January 1. Four of them came from room 2207 where Dacera was seen going in and out with her friends.

The elevator footage matches the hallway footage of the hotel where four men were seen leaving room 2207 during the said period.

Three respondents and lawyers of five more respondents subpoenaed by the NBI have appeared for questioning.

The family of Dacera welcomed the investigation being conducted by the NBI which earlier stated that it has “encouraging leads” on the re-autopsy of Dacera’s body.

“Depends on how the Death Investigation (Division) will conclude this investigation, we will submit our report to the Secretary of Justice and we leave it to the Secretary of Justice,” NBI Deputy Director and Spokesperson Atty. Ferdinand Lavin stated.

“I can only assume if these are the same charges involving the same incident and the same personalities involved. Then it can be for consolidation… We’re not saying we already have a criminal case, we have yet to conclude this investigation,” Lavin added.

The preliminary investigation of the case of Dacera is set to begin Wednesday at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office. – Report from Patrick de Jesus
