Medicolegal report on Dacera questioned

The Dacera family questioned the medicolegal report submitted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the preliminary investigation at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.

Based on the report of the PNP, Christine Dacera died due to ruptured aortic aneurysm which is also similar to the findings of the previous medicolegal report.

The Dacera camp questioned how the body was examined on January 11 when the remains were already flown to General Santos City.

“This add up to our cover up theory. Somebody is covering up for somebody,” the Dacera’s spokesperson Atty. Bricks Reyes stated.

The camp of the respondents explained that the medicolegal report submitted by the PNP is based on histopathological findings.

The Southern Police District requested the PNP crime laboratory to conduct histopathological examination on January 2.

The request was received on January 4 when the visceral organs including the heart were already at the PNP crime laboratory on the said day for examination.

“It is incorrect to state na hindi ma-e-examine ang organ dahil inilipad na sa General Santos City ang body ni Ms. Dacera (It is incorrect to state that the organ cannot be examined because the body of Ms. Dacera was already flown to General Santos),” Atty. Mike Santiago, legal counsel of five respondents, countered.

“The body was flown, but naiwan ang organs (but the organs were left behind),” Santiago pointed out.

The respondents also denied the alleged cover up in the case, saying that they are also puzzled as to why the histopathological result was not shown during the first preliminary investigation when the PNP already had it on January 11.

“Your guess is as good as mine. In fact, we were even forced to subpoena these results because we feel that it’s taking quite so long to produce the results,” Santiago disclosed.

The Daceras are now seeking the result of the re-autopsy conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). – Report from Patrick de Jesus
