DOLE: No penalties for AEP late renewal

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will not impose a penalty on foreigners with expired Alien Employment Permit (AEP).

This was confirmed by DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III in a public briefing Thursday as the labor department waived the former imposition of penalty.

Meanwhile, Sec. Bello pointed out that the DOLE does not need to have a law for employees who want to immediately resign from their jobs. But in case of termination, the employer must “file a notice 1 month before the effectivity of the termination” along with a reason so that it can be determined if it is legal or not. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
