Bataan sets up assistance hub in cemeteries

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — Police in Bataan on Wednesday set up assistance hubs near 33 public and 18 private cemeteries in 11 towns and a city in the province.

Police Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo, Jr., Bataan police director, said the hubs are composed of teams from police, medic, fire and other government and private groups.

“We are in the round of the province to check our one-community concept of securing cemeteries,” Silo, a lawyer, said.

He led in the inspection of police assistance desks and hubs to ensure the establishment of their so-called all-in-one security centers. The hubs can also be approached for safety and road concerns.

The Provincial Public Safety Company headed by Supt. Rommel Velasco deployed five special reaction teams visible in bus terminal and places of convergence in the observance of Undas.

“These teams work with police stations to provide patrols to barangays and subdivisions to warn residents on burglary and other crimes,” Velasco said.

Meanwhile, there is prevailing bad weather in Bataan but rains do not stop people from visiting their departed loved ones in various cemeteries in the province. (PNA)
