Sobejana officially assumes post as AFP Chief

Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana has officially assumed his post as the 55th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In his message to the public, the mew AFP chief affirmed that “with unity and conviction” victory can be attained.

“This is a collaborative project that requires everybody,” he enjoined.

In Sobejana’s over 30 years of military service, he has experienced different operations. Some of which have put his life in danger. He is known as the soldier who salutes with his left hand. His right hand lost its motor capabilities after an encounter with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in 1995.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte recognized Sobejana’s ability to lead the AFP to “achieve even more milestones in the campaign to address the insurgency and terror, and put an end to all this stretch to our national security”.

The third medal of valor awardee turned AFP Chief has over 5 months to serve the organization since he is set to retire on July 31.
