DOJ to coordinate with DA, DTI on food price increase issue

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is ready to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in response to the price increase of food products in the market.

In a press briefing, Secretary Menardo Guevarra stated that the DOJ is open to be part of the proposed sub-task group on economic intelligence. It is the group that will focus on the sudden spike in the cost of pork products in the market.

In relation with this, the DOJ ordered the preparation of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for the possible creation of the task group. The latter will be the one to investigate possible cartels that manipulate the prices and supplies of the products.

Guevarra trusts that President Rodrigo R. Duterte will approve the creation of the task group. Report from Kenneth Paciente
