The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is preparing an administrative order to prohibit motorcycle dealers to sell on installment basis alone.
In a Senate hearing, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez pointed out that buyers must be free to choose cash or installment as payment method in buying a motorcycle of their choice following a report that several dealers force buyers to pay on installment basis without any cash payment option.
The DTI has received 3,060 complaints including non-issuance of an official receipt and certificate of registration, and sale of defective motorcycles. -PTV News
