AFP requires vaccination for all personnel

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) required all of its personnel to receive the vaccine against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to AFP Spokesperson Major General Edgard Arevalo, they are all obligated to be vaccinated because it is part of their duty as soldiers.

“Ayaw natin na tayo mismo na naghahatid ng bakuna na hindi protektado ay makahawa ng virus doon sa mga kababayan natin na gusto nating tulungan (We don’t want to be carriers of the virus then transmit it to the people we want to help).”

The AFP aims to vaccinate 100 of its staff per day.

Maj. Gen. Arevalo mentioned that members of the military can choose the brand of vaccine they prefer. However, if the brand is not allocated for their organization, they have to pay for it.
