Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero on PNP-PDEA shootout

The only question that begs to be asked is: who was the buyer and who was the seller in that drug bust operation? In a buy-bust operation, there’s supposed to be a buyer and a seller. There cannot be two buyers and no seller.

Under Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, selling of illegal drugs is still a capital offense punishable by life imprisonment. Even in a buy-bust operation, it’s still Illegal for uniformed personnel to play the role of a seller.

But from what we’ve heard so far, the statements made by PNP and PDEA raised more questions than answers. We hope there will be no cover-up in the investigation so the public will know the true and full story.

Four lives have been lost and government money was wasted. We’ve seen how the PNP and PDEA endangered lives of the public while making the super busy middle of Commonwealth Ave. as their own war zone.

With this, I fully support the move of House Dangerous Drugs Committee chairman, Rep. Ace Barbers, to immediately conduct an investigation on this matter.

The program of our beloved President Rodrigo Duterte to rid our country of drugs is a fight of every Filipino, which is lauded and being duplicated all over the world. We should not allow this to be destroyed by illegal activities by some misguided law enforcers, if proven in investigation. This should stop right now!
