400K CoronaVac doses arrive in PH

400,000 doses of CoronaVac vaccine developed by Sinovac Biotech, arrived safely with no delays at the storage facility of Metropac Movers Inc. in Marikina City from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday morning.

This is part of the one million doses donated by China to the Philippines.

After arriving at the facility, officials checked the temperature of the shipment of the vaccines. From the refrigerated trucks, a forklift carried it toward to the storage facility.

Dr. Ariel Valencia, Director of the Supply Chain Management Service of the Department of Health (DOH), shared that vaccines were delivered by five refrigerated trucks

“Actually, ito naman ay patuloy na pagtugon ng ating gobyerno sa kailangan ng tao laban sa COVID at ito nga ‘yung isang mabisa ay ‘yung paggamit ng bakuna na magbibigay ng karagdagang proteksyon sa ating mga frontliner lalong-lalo ngayon na may mga mataas na kaso tayo ng COVID cases (Actually, this is part of the government’s continuing efforts to respond to the needs of the public against COVID and this is one of the effective ways, the use of vaccines for the added protection of our frontliners especially now that there is a spike in COVID-19 cases,” Valencia pointed out.

Last February 28, 600,000 doses of the CoronaVac vaccine, the first batch of vaccines donated by China arrived at the country. The following day, March 1, the government started the vaccine roll out among medical frontliners.

This coming Monday, March 29, the one million dosage of CoronaVac vaccine procured by the government will arrive. The boost in vaccine supplies is seen as a timely move to address the rising daily tally of COVID-19 cases in the country. – Rod Lagusad
