Easter message from Speaker Lord Allan Velasco

For the second year in a row, we mark the victory of Jesus Christ over death at a time when the world is struggling with the pandemic that has caused immense suffering for millions of people across the globe. Once more, COVID-19 prevents us from celebrating Easter in churches and at home with family and friends as we normally do before we faced this biggest disruption of our lives.

However, despite these great difficulties, anguish and pain, we can still be grateful. We can reach out virtually to family and friends to offer encouragement. A simple act of kindness and compassion can give hope and comfort. This is also a good time to take care of ourselves and others, especially those in need.

As we celebrate the holiest of days on the Christian calendar—the resurrection of Jesus Christ who overcame death and the grave, and opens the door to eternal life—may we all be instruments in spreading love, hope and blessings in these trying times.

The Lord is risen; let us rejoice and be glad. Happy Easter everyone!
