Beds allocated for COVID-19 patients in Baguio City private hospitals remain in full use amid the rising number of confirmed cases.
Because of this, the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center is now challenged to accept all COVID-19 patients despite its increasing utilization rate.
“Hindi naman lahat ng beds ng hospital ay dedicated for COVID [Not all beds of the hospital are dedicated for COVID]. But there are allotted beds for COVID. But I’m telling you, we are on a critical situation now regarding hospitals,” City Administrator Engr. Bonifacio Dela Peña stated.
City Health Officer Dr. Rowena Galpo added that private hospitals can no longer expand bed allocation to 30%, which pushes the government to find a resolution.
Authorities are now asking local governments, including neighboring regions, to coordinate with district hospitals and other private facilities attending to COVID-19 patients to prevent the congestion of hospitals in the city.
