PRRD waives his COVID-19 vaccine slot

By NG Seruela

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said on Monday evening (April 12) that he will “waive” his slot for the COVID-19 vaccine and offered the slot to those who need it.

In his Talk to the People public address, he said he will waive his vaccine slot on behalf of the many Filipino frontliners who cannot go home to their families due to the fear of transmitting or being infected by COVID-19.

“Ako magwi-waive ako. Kung sino ‘yung may gusto sa slot ko, ibigay ko,” he said. [I will waive. Whoever wants my slot, I’ll give it to them.]

“Anyway, God willing, itong vaccines na tinatrabaho ni Secretary Galvez baka may dadating na. At kung dadating na, [these vaccines that Secretary Galves is working on might arrive soon. And if they are arriving], we can always reconfigure,” he added.

The 76-year-old President offered to give his slot to those who will live longer and have a chance to “live productively.”

He also said after his presidency, he will just spend time with his family.
