PRRD signs EO No. 129 creating new office vs. red tape

In keeping with his vow to get rid of red tape in government, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed Executive Order No. 129 on April 14, creating the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Streamlining of Government Processes.

The new office is meant to streamline the long and expensive system of processing permits and documents by government agencies.

Among its tasks are reviewing current guidelines of government and creating effective policies to improve on them. These will then be submitted to the Chief Executive or to the Anti-Red Tape Authority.

In his earlier statements, Pres. Duterte has stressed his intent to reform the system of government during his term. He deems this important especially during this time of pandemic. Report by Mela Lesmoras/JBB-jlo
