Pres. Duterte confers order of Lapu-Lapu on PO1 Ronald Anicete

MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte awarded Police Officer (PO) 1 Ronald Anicete with the Order of Lapu-Lapu Kampilan Medal during a simple ceremony at Heroes Hall of the Malacañan Palace on Monday, November 6.

President Duterte in his previous speeches heaped praises on Anicete, a Caloocan cop, for bravely confronting a knife-wielding man who refused to be arrested.

The Chief Executive knew about the incident after he saw a video of Anicete. In the video, Anicete was seen telling a knife-wielding man to surrender peacefully.

However, the suspect attacked him and stabbed him several times. Anicete fought back and was able to shoot the suspect. The President promised to reward Anicete after his recovery.

The Order of Lapu-Lapu rank of Kampilan is awarded to officials and personnel of the government and private individuals who were seriously wounded or suffered great loss of property as a direct result of their participation in activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President.

The conferment ceremony was held before the President presided over the Philippine National Police-Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Command Conference.

Prior to the ceremony, the Chief Executive met with the officials of the Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and Highways and the Metro Manila Development Authority in Malacanang to discuss pending matters concerning the agencies.

President Duterte also administered the oath of office of newly appointed Cabinet officials namely Presidential Spokesperson Herminio Harry Roque and Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
