The Department of Health (DOH) announced Monday that the overall healthcare utilization (HCUR) of the National Capital Region (NCR) is now under safe zone.
According to DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the utilization rate of hospitals is currently at 48%, while the occupancy rate of intensive care unit (ICU) beds declined to 61% from a high of 88%.
The occupancy rate of temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs) in the region also fell to 36%.
“Sa kabuuan, ang ating HCUR at ICU utilization ng NCR ay nasa safe zone na ngayon, ngunit nananatiling nasa mataas na risk ang ilang mga NCR Plus areas,” Vergeire said in an online forum.
Data from OCTA Research show that Navotas, Malabon, Manila, Taguig, Caloocan, Pasay, and Muntinlupa are currently under moderate risk category.
The group said the average new COVID-19 cases in NCR declined by 27% or to 1,478 on May 10 to 16. The reproduction number also settled at 0.57, while the positivity rate stood at 11%.
“Aming pinapaalala sa LGUs na ang pinakaimportante na PDITR response is to shorten the detection to isolation to just 5.5 days, dahil ayon sa ating mga eksperto this can reduce our cases by as much as two thirds,” Vergeire advised. – Report from Mark Fetalco/AG-rir
