SIQUIJOR, June 4 (PIA) — Siquijor Rep. Jake Vincent Villa and Gov. Zaldy Villa hailed the national government for the support they extended to the province as they vowed to continue helping and supporting the needs of the people especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

At least 86 Siquijodnons received aid through the Assistance to Individuals/Families in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local funds of the provincial government here.

For April this year, P410,450 was released to finance various services such as burial, medical, and food and transportation for homeless families, indigent, vulnerable groups, informal sectors, farmers and fisherfolks in the province.

Villa recently led the orientation of 1,845 TUPAD beneficiaries in the province as he pledged to remain committed in promoting programs that will help Siquijodnons affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said through DOLE’s TUPAD and the local government of Siquijor, Siquijodnons are provided with employment opportunities to help sustain their needs during the pandemic.

A total of 4,196 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the TUPAD program until August this year.

As of May 11, a total of 491 beneficiaries under the first batch received their salary from DOLE.

TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
