Parañaque court drops rape case vs Kenneth Dong

MANILA — The Parañaque City Regional Trial Court (RTC) dismissed the rape case against businessman Dong Yi Shen alias Kenneth Dong.

Dong was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on August 15 after attending a Senate probe into the PHP6.4-billion shabu shipment seized in two warehouses in Valenzuela City last May 26.

The NBI said Dong raped an “intoxicated” businesswoman on April 9, 2016 inside a townhouse in Parañaque.

According to Dong’s lawyer John Ungab, the Cebu-based businessman was released from the Parañaque City Jail on Monday, two days after Judge Aida Estrella Macapagal of the Parañaque City RTC Branch 195 dismissed his rape case.

Ungab said the complainant, a businesswoman, filed an affidavit of desistance indicating that she will no longer pursue the case.

Dong, along with some former officials of the Bureau of Customs, are facing drug raps before the Department of Justice. (PNA)
