Nilinaw ng Malacañang na hindi saklaw ang mga Pilipinong bahagi ng repatriation program sa kasalukuyang travel restrictions sa piling bansa sa Asya.

Sa pahayag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque nitong Linggo (Hunyo 20), ang mga Pilipino na bahagi ng repatriation program ng gobyerno ay maaari pa ring makapasok sa bansa ngunit sasailalim sila sa COVID testing at quarantine protocols.

Ang pagtatakda ng travel restrictions ng pamahalaan sa mga pasaherong galing sa India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, at Oman hanggang Hunyo 30 ay bilang pag-iingat ng bansa sa banta ng pagkalat ng iba’t-ibang COVID-19 variant, lalo na  ang mas nakakahawang Delta variant na nadiskubre sa bansang India.

Ayon sa mga eksperto, tinatayang 60% na mas nakakahawa ang Delta variant kaysa sa UK variant. – Ulat ni Mela Lesmoras / CF- jlo
