PH to receive another COVID-19 vaccine donation from U.S.

The Philippines will receive another tranche of COVID-19 vaccine donation from the United States (U.S.).

The White House confirmed on Tuesday (June 22) that the Philippines will be one of the priority recipient countries to receive a portion of the latest 55-M tranche of U.S. government-donated COVID-19 vaccine doses in June.

The allocation will be in addition to the initial 25-M doses distributed by the U.S. to various countries. The PH will receive the said allocations through the COVAX facility and direct donation.

In relation to this, U.S. President Joe Biden recently announced that the U.S. will procure 500-M doses of the Pfizer vaccine to distribute to 92 low and lower-middle income countries.

“The United States will purchase half a billion doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to donate to nearly 100 nations that are in dire need in the fight against pandemic,” U.S. President Biden said.
