Fish port personnel get second vax shot as rollout continues

Several economic frontline workers under vaccination priority group A4 at the Navotas Fish Port received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine today (July 5).

“Kailangan namin kumayod, lalo’t ako ay padre de pamilya, so kailangan namin na mas maingat sa katawan namin,” vaccine recipient and factory worker Rico Barcillano said.

Barcillano is among 400 individuals under A4 category at the fish port who have completed their Sinovac vaccination. This figure includes fish vendors, traders, and other workers at the fish port.

“Ang fish port ng Navotas ang nagsu-supply ng 70% ng isda sa Luzon, ito rin ang nagpapakain sa 27 milyon katao, kaya napaka-importante,” Jun Santos, Philippine Association Of Fish Traders president, said.

The A4 vaccination in the country began as early as May to support the country’s economic recovery measures. Navotas targets to vaccinate 19,000 workers at the fish port, in line with their role in ensuring food security.

Dr. Ismael Dar Santos, supervising manager of the Navotas Fish Port vaccination team, said they have already inoculated 7,476 individuals.

Meanwhile, Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination also continued today in Kaunlaran High School with over 300 recipients under priority groups A1 to A3.  As of July 5, Navotas has already administered vaccines to 79,254 individuals or 52.8% of their 150,000 target population. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla/AG- jlo
