PNP on lookout for fake vaccination cards

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on alert for the possible use of fake vaccination cards by travelers.

PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar sent out a warning on Monday (July 5) following the relaxation of interzonal travel for fully vaccinated individuals.

Eleazar ordered all PNP units to be on the lookout for fake vaccination cards since travelers also fake their swab test results, it is possible for them to fake the said requirement.

“If the results of RT-PCR tests can be faked, it’s not completely impossible for illicit people to also use fake vaccination documents. We won’t let this happen,” he said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also warned those who fake their vaccination cards that it is a falsification of a public document that can lead to imprisonment.

“Well, unang-una, nagbibigay po ako ng babala doon sa mga mamemeke – iyan po’y isang public document. So kapag kayo po’y nameke ng vaccination card, that’s falsification of a public document – medyo mataas po ang kulong diyan. Uulitin ko po, falsification of a public document iyan, mataas po, mahaba ang kulong diyan – huwag naman po kayong magpakalaboso. Pero we have heard concerns expressed by the LGUs pagdating po dito, iyan ay tatalakayin din ng ating IATF,” he said.

Sec. Roque initially announced that travelers can now present their vaccination cards instead of a negative COVID-19 test for interzonal travels.
