Galvez reminds LGUs to properly store vaccines

National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. reminded local government units (LGUs) to ensure the proper storage of COVID-19 vaccines.

Galvez emphasized on Friday (July 16) the importance of following the proper temperature requirement of the vaccines to prevent vaccine wastage.

“Mini-minimize talaga natin ‘yung wastage kasi talagang sa ngayon, ang bakuna ay ginto, kailangan talaga lahat ng mga nakakatanggap nito na LGU—they have to preserve the efficacy and safety of these vaccines, kasi once na-compromise ‘yung safety at storage, it will compromise and endanger the health of our people,” he said.

The Pfizer vaccination in Muntinlupa was temporarily suspended on July 15 due to a problem with their cold storage. The Muntinlupa LGU has apologized for the incident while the Department of Health (DOH) is investigating the occurrence.
