Use of quarantine pass to return during ECQ in Metro Manila

Quarantine pass system will again be observed when the National Capital Region (NCR) returns to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) for two weeks, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos said on Monday (July 2).

In a Malacañang public briefing on Monday, MMDA chief Abalos said the quarantine pass system that was used in the previous implementation of ECQ in Metro Manila will be observed on August 6 to 20.

“‘Yun pong tinatawag na quarantine pass na pina-practice noong araw ng mga local government units, ‘yun nalang din muna ang gagawin namin ngayon,” Abalos said.

Each local government unit (LGU) will decide whether they will be issuing new quarantine passes or retain the old passes.

However, due to the time constraints, NCR local chiefs already agreed that they would be using the old quarantine pass system.

“Ang gagawin ng each LGUs, it will depend if they will use the old ones or re-issue new ones through their barangay captains,” Abalos said.

Public transportation

The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or number coding scheme continues to be suspended during ECQ, the MMDA said in a Facebook post.

Pinapayagan ang pagbiyahe para sa essential goods at pagpasok sa mga establishments o aktibidad na pinayagang ng IATF na magbukas o mag-operate,” the post reads.

Abalos also said that the public utility vehicles will be allowed to enter Metro Manila, in response to the transportation needs of the frontline workers, essential workers, and vaccinees.

Dapat pong panatilihin. Number one is for our frontliners. Number two is for our essential workers. And, most importantly, number three: ‘yung mga magpapabakuna po,” he said.

Abalos also reminded the public that liquor ban will be imposed by their respective LGUs.

In Metro Manila, cities of Makati, Taguig, Pasig, and Las Piñas LGUs do not impose a liquor ban, while buying of alcoholic beverages are prohibited in cities of Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Pasay, Navotas, Pateros, Quezon City, and San Juan.

An 8-hour unified curfew in areas in Metro Manila would be from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. – Report from PTV News / CF – rir
