Bongbong Marcos entertains presidential bid, says situation must be studied further

By Pearl Gumapos

Former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. on Wednesday (August 4) said he was keeping himself open to whether or not he will be running for president in the 2022 elections.

“Lagi kong sabi, ang lagi kong sinusundan na prinsipyo ay “Keep [yourself] open.” Marami pang mangyayari mula ngayong hanggang sa filing sa October,” he said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

“Marami pang mangyayari at kailangan pag-aralan natin ng mabuti,” he added.

Meanwhile, the former senator also said that amid improving the healthcare system against COVID-19, previous government efforts may no longer be enough to fight the Delta variant.

“Mas gumaganda na ang sistema natin laban dito sa COVID-19. ‘Yung mga ginagawa natin noon, baka hindi sapat  para kontrahin ‘yung Delta variant. Kaya nga kailangan nating mag-lock down uli, mag sikip ulit, mag strikto ulit,” he said.

“Alam nating lahat, lalong-lalo na ‘yung gobyerno na pagod na ‘yung tao kaka-lockdown. Kailangan siguro mag tiyaga tayo muna. Hangga’t mabakunahan lahat, ito lang ang nakikita nating paraan na  magkaroon ng konting siglang ang ating ekonomiya,” he added.

Following Marcos’ previous positive COVID-19 results, the senator encouraged the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

“‘Wag na kayong mag-isip. Magpa-vaccine na kayo,” he said. -rir
