NBI nabs two in drug buy-bust, two others for illegally selling LPG

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced on Tuesday (Aug. 10) the arrest of two individuals by the NBI-Iligan District Office (NBI-ILDO) in a buy-bust operation in Marawi City for selling illegal drugs.

NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC)-Director Eric B. Distor identified the subjects as Omar Dimaporo y Aca-ac and Dan Johnson Partos y Planto.

Distor said that in the evening of Aug. 2, operatives of NBI-ILDO and the Marawi City Police Office conducted an anti-illegal drug operation at Bgy. East Basak, Marawi City which resulted in the immediate apprehension of Dimaporo and Partos.

Confiscated from Dimaporo were one large and one small heat-sealed white rectangular transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu,” weighing more or less five grams with an estimated street value of P 34,000; one large heat-sealed white rectangular transparent plastic sachet containing shabu residue, a barangay ID, and drug paraphernalia.

Confiscated from Partos were 31 sachets containing suspected shabu weighing more or less six grams with an estimated street value of P40,800, a voter’s ID, and drug paraphernalia.

The arrested subjects were brought to NBI-ILDO for standard booking procedures and for their temporary detention. The confiscated drug evidence will be forwarded to NBI Regional Office 10, Forensic Chemistry Division for quantitative and qualitative examination.

Two nabbed in illegal LPG sale

The NBI also announced the arrest of two individuals by the operatives of NBI-Bohol District Office (NBI-BOHDO) in Sagbayan, Bohol for selling petroleum products without a government permit.

Distor identified the subjects as spouses Casiano Oro y Sepada and Anabel Oro y Valentos, and said the operation stemmed from a report received by  NBI-BOHDO that the subjects were engaged in the illicit trade of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

NBI-BOHDO conducted a series of surveillance operations and confirmed that the subjects were operating an unlicensed refilling and retailing of LPG, particularly butane.

The Department of Energy-Visayas Field Office had issued a certification stating that the subjects are not registered with them for the issuance of a standard compliance certificate for the refilling, retailing, distribution, and hauling of LPG.

Under strict instructions from Director Distor, NBI-BOHDO planned a buy-bust operation against the subject spouses. An undercover agent/ poseur-buyer ordered 300 units of butane.

On Aug. 3, upon the arrival of the subject spouses, they showed the poseur-buyer 300 cans of butane and loaded it into the poseur-buyer’s vehicle. The latter then handed over the marked money to the subject spouses and gave the pre-arranged signal that the transaction was consummated. The undercover agent, together with the rest of the NBI-BOHDO operatives, immediately apprehended the subjects.

The Valentos couple was presented for inquest proceedings before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Tagbilaran City for illegal trading of petroleum and/or petroleum products, prohibited and penalized under Sec 2(a) of Presidential Decree No. 1865. (NBI) – jlo
