BI to deport Chinese, Indian fugitives

MANILA — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to deport two foreigners arrested last week in separate operations in Metro Manila.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified them as Pan Guisheng, 73, a Chinese national and Reddy Koyanna Venugopal Krishna, 38, an Indian national. They were arrested last Friday by members of the bureau’s fugitive search unit.

Pan, who was arrested inside the Jade Tower Condominium along 2nd Avenue, Caloocan City, is a fugitive wanted for economic crimes in China.

On the other hand, Krishna is the subject of various criminal complaints including acts of lasciviousness, estafa and issuing bouncing checks.

Morente said Pan would be deported for posing risk to public safety and security due to his being a fugitive. He is considered as an undocumented alien as his passport was already canceled by the Chinese government.

The BI chief added that a summary deportation order was already issued by the agency’s Board of Commissioners against the Indian for being an undesirable alien.

However, Morente said that Krishna wouldnot be deported yet due to pending criminal cases against him before local courts.

Meanwhile, BI spokesperson Ma. Antonette Mangrobang said the foreigners would be included in the immigration blacklist to prevent them from returning to the Philippines after they are deported.

“There will be no letup in our campaign against aliens who violate our laws. Foreign fugitives should not use our country as a sanctuary so they can evade punishment for crimes they committed in their homeland,” she added. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
