OCTA: COVID-19 reproduction number decreasing at a slow rate

The COVID-19 reproduction number in the National Capital Region (NCR) has slightly increased, but the overall trend of cases is decreasing, OCTA Research group said on Sunday (Sept. 5).

The independent research group said the reproduction number of COVID-19 cases nationwide is currently at 1.32, while the trend in NCR increased from 1.39 to 1.41.

“Bumaba sa buong Pilipinas. It means na siguro, nag-slow down naman sa ibang areas iyong surge,” OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David said to PTV on Sunday.

Medyo mabagal lang iyong pagbaba niya,” he added.

According to David, new COVID-19 cases may peak to around 25,000, but it would not likely reach 30,000.

– Report from Rod Lagusad / CF – bny
