Gov’t offices in Davao City go WFH mode to curb COVID-19 infections

The city government of Davao has implemented a fully operational work-from-home (WFH) and skeletal workforce arrangement in all government offices from Sept. 8 to Sept. 26.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte issued Executive Order (EO) No. 44 to implement “a fully operational work-from-home and skeleton arrangement in all barangay, city and national government offices, including government-owned and controlled corporations.”

The EO also encourages the private sector to implement the said arrangement in light of the surge of COVID-19 cases in the city.

According to Duterte, the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and other private hospitals are fully occupied with all kinds of patients, especially COVID-19 cases.

The mayor said that the recommendation was modified to be mandatory for government offices, so as not to disrupt the operations of private offices and businesses.

As of Sept. 7, there are 40,659 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Davao City. From this, about 7,018 are active cases. – Report from Hannah Salcedo (PTV Davao) / CF – bny
