DILG OKs Pateros ‘yellow ribbon’ system

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) supports the initiative of the local government of Pateros to tie yellow ribbons at houses with COVID-19 positive individuals and quarantine closed contacts.

DILG Undersecretary Martin Diño said in a media forum on Sunday (Sept. 19) that yellow ribbon-tagging helps the local government unit (LGU) to monitor the individuals, as well as contain the virus from further spreading in the community.

It’s high time to do that,” Diño said.

Meanwhile, Pateros Mayor Miguel Ike Ponce III said yellow ribbons also help the LGU to easily identify houses that need aid from the municipality.

He added that tying of ribbons is voluntary.

This initiative will run for two weeks so as to assess if this is effective in slowing down the spread of COVID-19.

As of Sept. 19, about 171 areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) were placed under granular lockdown. – Report from Mark Fetalco / CF -rir
