PNP chief seeks immediate probe into Albay cop slay

MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has ordered the chief of the Police Regional Office in Bicol Region to resolve the killing of a cop in Daraga, Albay last week.

Eleazar said he wanted the case of S/Sgt. Allan Madelar, assigned as an intelligence warrant officer of the Guinobatan Municipal Police Station, resolved soon and the suspects identified and arrested.

“Kasama dito ang pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon upang matukoy ang motibo na magiging susi sa pagkakakilanlan ng mga taong nasa likod nito (I have ordered a probe so that the suspects and their motives behind the crime are known),” Eleazar said in a video message sent to reporters Monday (Sept. 27).

Madelar was gunned down by still unidentified suspects in Barangay Peñafrancia where he attended a birthday party at around 10:40 p.m Saturday (Sept. 25).

Eleazar expressed his condolences to Madelar’s kin and vowed that assistance would be provided to the family.

He appealed to the witnesses to help authorities in shedding light on the incident. (PNA)
