LEGAZPI CITY – The Albay Provincial Capitol building was placed on lockdown after one of its employees tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Engr. Vida Maria Corazon Prollamante, Albay Provincial Administrator, in a phone interview, said Governor Al Francis Bichara on Monday (Sept. 27) issued a directive closing down the whole provincial capitol building until Tuesday (Sept. 28).

The lockdown was declared after one of the participants at the Devolution Orientation Planning Conference initiated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Albay on Sept. 21 was found infected with the virus.

The conference was held at the AVP Restaurant here and attended by various provincial department heads.

Prollamante said the temporary closure of the capitol building would give sufficient time for the disinfection and contact tracing of people who got in touch with the department heads.

The capitol officials have been directed by the governor to undergo a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test and 14-day isolation in their respective homes. (PNA) – bny
