David said the hospital utilization rates of some areas are still high, while several provinces are still experiencing case surge. This was already pointed out by the Department of Health (DOH) while maintaining that there is no place for complacency.
The DOH said 94 areas nationwide are under alert level 4 classification for having more than 70% intensive care unit (ICU) utilization, while there are no areas under alert level 1.
DOH USec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said there are less than 10 areas under alert level 2 and more than 20 areas under alert level 3.
“So pag tiningnan po natin talagang ang ating health care utilization mataas pa rin po ang paggamit… although nakikita natin na talagang mayroong pagbaba, pero marami po kasing factors na nakaka-affect,” Vergeire said.
The official said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) is set to meet and issue a decision on the alert level system in Metro Manila, and on whether it will be implemented in other provinces.
Meanwhile, health authorities reported today (Sept. 29) new cases of variants of concern, including more than 300 Delta variant cases. Of the new cases, 609 are local and 17 are returning overseas Filipinos. – Report from Patrick de Jesus/AG- bny
