CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Authorities arrested five suspected drug personalities and seized some P420,000 worth of shabu when they dismantled a drug den in Limay, Bataan on Tuesday (Sept. 28) night.

In a report on Wednesday (Sept. 29), Col. Joel K. Tampis, acting provincial director of the Bataan Police Provincial Office, said the arrested suspects were identified as Alberto Aguilar, 40, Ernie Tanarte, 51, Mark Anthony Cuevas, 35, Frankie Olarte, 30, and Jocelyn Liwanag, 39, all residents of the same town.

Tampis said the operation was conducted by joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bataan, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Criminal Investigation, and Detection Group, and Limay Municipal Police Station.

Confiscated during the operation were 12 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, weighing 60 grams and with Dangerous Drug Board-estimated value of P420,000, several drug paraphernalia; and the marked money used in the buy-bust.

The arrested suspects were temporarily detained at the PDEA-3 Jail Facility in the city.

Tampis said charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the five suspects.

“With the constant arrest and neutralization of illegal drug personalities in the area as well as the strong commitment of the police to stop its proliferation, illegal drug traders will have less opportunity to propagate illegal drugs here in Central Luzon,” Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon, regional director of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3), said in a statement. (PNA) -bny
