MANILA – San Juan City’s active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases have declined by as much as 56 percent in 15 days.

In a Facebook post on Friday (Oct. 1), Mayor Francis Zamora said from a high of 1,123 active cases on Sept. 15, the total is down to 498 on Sept. 30.

Despite the sharp reduction, Zamora still reminded his constituents not to be complacent.

“I continue to enjoin each and every San Juaneño to adhere to all health and safety protocols so that we can further bring down the numbers in our city which will enable us to live and thrive in a safer environment while at the same time, allow our economy to reopen gradually,” he said.

The city government has updated its inoculation drive to youngsters, following the approval of the recommendation of the vaccine cluster to start the vaccination of the general population and minors this month.

Zamora said there are 3,000 minors, aged 12 to 17 years, who have registered for the planned vaccination in Metro Manila starting Oct. 15.

He urged more residents to register their children in San Juan’s Covid-19 Vaccine Pre-Registration Site by visiting the website: http://vaxreg.sanjuancity.gov.ph/vaccine_registration/public/, and clicking the “Mga Kabataan ng San Juan” button on the lower right.

Submission of the form indicates willingness to receive the Covid-19 jab.

The city government has been preparing for the vaccination of minors and has saved all its Pfizer and Moderna jabs for them. (PNA) – bny
