2 weather systems to bring scattered rain showers

Some areas in the country will experience scattered rain showers caused by weather systems affecting northern Luzon and Mindanao, the weather bureau said on Monday (Nov. 29).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela due to the shear line.

Likewise, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will dampen Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Davao Region.

PAGASA warned that the aforementioned areas may experience flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon.

A gale warning has been issued over the northern, eastern, and western seaboards of northern Luzon. Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out to sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, Aldczar Aurelio of PAGASA said a low pressure area is embedded along the ITCZ and was last located 1,960 kilometers east of Mindanao.

“It could possibly develop into a tropical cyclone. It may also enter (the Philippine area of responsibility) either Tuesday or Wednesday,” he said. (PNA) – jlo
