Popcom-7 cites Cebu Capitol for family-oriented programs

CEBU CITY — The Commission on Population in Central Visayas (Popcom-7) recently named Cebu as the Most Outstanding Province for its initiatives in empowering families.

This was learned from the Cebu Provincial Government’s Public Information Office on Monday.

Popcom-7 cited Cebu Province “for creating and maintaining a local population office with appointed/designated population officer and staff actively contributing to the implementation of the Philippine Management Program.”

Governor Hilario Davide III was also recognized by Popcom-7 for his exemplary performance in legislation and development initiatives centered on population dynamics.

Davide and the Provincial Government’s initiatives to integrate into the local government’s projects and activities the program components on Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning, Adolescent Health and Development, and Population and Development with the goal to empower families have been Popcom-7’s basis for the award.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Marivic Garces received the awards from Popcom-7 and turned them over to Davide and the Capitol on Friday. (with reports from Michelle Bugtai/PNA)
