DepEd: Start of face-to-face went smoothly, no recorded COVID-19 cases

By Pearl Gumapos

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday (Dec. 6) reported that the start of the pilot implementation of face-to-face in the National Capital Region went smoothly.

There were no recorded cases of COVID-19.

“So far, it has been smooth. We have officials of the department that are on the ground. In the last two weeks ay walang actual COVID-19 positive na naitala. Wala tayong naitatala na actual confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in all of our participating pilot schools,” DepEd Usec. Nepomuceno Malaluan said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Sana hindi magbago itong pag-trend ng ating pagmo-monitor. It’s been very positive and we are anticipating a recommendation towards expansion,” he said.

Malaluan says participating schools, during the Christmas break, will be submitting their assessment of the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes.

The consolidated report will then be submitted to the Office of the President before the year ends.

Malaluan says the agency hopes to see an expansion of the implementation of the face-to-face classes by next year.

He also said the number of schools that may participate once there is expansion will still be dependent on whether or not the schools are able to meet the criteria for school safety assessment and readiness. -rir
