Nurses United Partylist hold rally at Comelec, demand inclusion in the official list

The Nurses United Partylist members on Monday (Dec. 6) rallied in front of the office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Intramuros, Manila, demanding that the Commission include them in the party list elections.

The group protested the decision of the Comelec, denying them to be included in the list of party lists for the upcoming 2022 elections.

As a result of the decision, the group will not be able to participate in the Comelec raffle on Friday (Dec. 10) to determine the ballot sequence of accredited party list groups.

Nurses United is one of over 100 party lists whose accreditation was rejected by the Comelec.

The group contends that they were able to explain in their appeal that most of their members are nurses and that proof is the PRC licenses they submitted.

“Inalisan nila kami ng pagkakataon na gawin ito, bakit? Sapagkat napakaliit na po ng bilang ng araw. Hindi pa nga po namin natatanggap ang resolution coming from Comelec En Banc kung ano ang desisyon sa aming motion for reconsideration,” Nurses United president and first nominee Maristela Abejonar said to PTV News. -Report from Karen Villanda/PG
