DOLE opens 30,000 job vacancy on their first limited face-to-face hybrid job fair and business expo

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) opened at least 30,000 job vacancies in both local and overseas employment in celebration of its 88th founding anniversary today (Dec.6) at the DOLE Labor and Governance Learning Center in Intramuros, Manila.

Earlier, DOLE Sec. Silvestre Bello III invited all jobseekers and displaced workers to take advantage of at least 15,569 local and overseas jobs in the ‘hybrid’ job fairs to be participated by 224 participating employers across the regions.

DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said in her interview that the department was surprised when the initial number of job vacancies was doubled to 30,000 today. She said the holiday season might be the reason for more job vacancies opening.

“In-open po natin itong hybrid po natin na face-to-face, first time po after the lockdown last year. Ngayon lang po tayo magpe-face to face job fair. Mayroon pa rin naman po siyempreng online. [Ang job fair] yun naman ay sa mga may kakayahan na pumunta at [ang online job fair] ay para sa may accessibility sa Internet at ayaw naman pong pumunta o magbiyahe,” ASec. Tutay said.

From the 30,000 job vacancies, 23,000 are local employment and 7,000 are overseas jobs.

According to DOLE, the job vacancies are mostly for customer service representatives, production workers, and sales associates.

The hybrid job fairs, which include face-to-face and virtual interviews held in different regions across the country such as National Capital Region (NCR), Bicol Region, Central Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The next job fair will be held in the Bicol Region on December 8 at Ayala Mall Legazpi in Legazpi City, Albay. Central Visayas is scheduled on December 6-8 at SM City Cebu in Mabolo, Cebu City.

The last leg of the hybrid job fair will be held on December 8 for face-to-face application at KCC Mall de Zamboanga in Zamboanga City and December 8-10 for virtual application at the DOLE IX Job Fair System. -Report from Rod Lagusad / CC-rir
