The National Capital Region (NCR) is likely to see a merrier Christmas as it logged an average of only 105 new COVID-19 cases per day from Dec. 1 to 7, the OCTA Research Group said on Wednesday (Dec. 8).

In its latest report, the group noted NCR’s average daily attack rate was less than one at 0.74 per day for every 100,000 individuals.

“The reproduction number was very low at 0.34 while the test positivity rate was just 1.1%,” it said.

The NCR and 11 of the 17 local government units (LGUs) comprising it are classified as very low risk for COVID-19.

These 11 are the cities of Malabon, Navotas, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Marikina, Manila, Parañaque, Pasay, Las Piñas, Mandaluyong, and the municipality of Pateros.

Meantime, Muntinlupa, Makati, Quezon City, Pasig, Taguig, and San Juan are classified low risk for COVID-19 as their health care utilization rate range from 31 to 33%; intensive care unit utilization rate, 36 to 67%; and ADAR, 1.10 to 1.51.

The research group emphasized the metrics they used are based on data at covidactnow.org and the Department of Health, which are not the same metrics used by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. (PNA) – jlo
