Davao positivity rate below 1%, over 1.1-M vaccinated

Davao City’s COVID-19 situation has continued to improve with its positivity rate settling to less than 1% and a second dose vaccination coverage of more than one million individuals.

Davao City COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said Davao City’s positivity rate is 0.4%. The task force is hoping to sustain the low figures this holiday season.

“Mananatili itong mababa kung may sense of responsibility and each and everyone of us… Nandyan na ang law, ang mga reminders, ang vaccination natin so ang kulang na lang is to follow it diligently,” she said.

Out of the city’s 1.2 million target vaccination population, a total of 1,171,050 first doses, 1,009,921 second doses, and 10,345 booster shots have been administered.

Davao is among the highly urbanized cities with 70% or higher complete vaccination coverage.

“Na-achieve natin ang herd immunity even amidst the — isa tayo sa may pinakamaraming population in the city. It’s because nandyan ang spirit ng bayanihan dito sa Davao,” she said.

“It is not just because of the LGU, but we have had help from different private sectors,” she added.

Local authorities have been preparing for the second round of three-day vaccination days of Dec. 15 to 17 as the country further ramps up its vaccination. – Report from Hanna Salcedo (PTV Davao)/AG-rir
