Voter application forms available at website: Comelec

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is advising those who want to register in the ongoing voter registration to avail of the option that will allow them to minimize queuing time in registration centers.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez noted that voter application forms can be downloaded from the poll body’s website.

Applicants have to fill these forms out, print and submit it to the Office of the Election Officer (OEC) in their city or municipality.

According to Comelec Resolution No. 10214, the public may either download application forms, print them out in a long bond paper and manually fill-out the forms or electronically fill-out the appropriate form. They need to print three copies of the forms that have been filled out.

“Application forms are available for download. We encourage everyone to download registration forms to hasten their applications,” the poll body official said.

But, Jimenez reminded the people that accomplished forms should be signed only at the local COMELEC offices or satellite registration, as provided by law.

“You can fill it up at home but don’t sign it. Let the Election Officers check your form first, in case there are corrections to be made. Also, the law says the forms have to be signed in the presence of the EO,” he explained.

Aside from application forms for registration, forms for reactivation, change/correction of entries, and inclusion/reinstatement of records in the list of voters can also be downloaded from the poll body’s website.

Applicants should also bring valid IDs that can prove that they are residents of the place wherein he/she proposes to vote.

After the personal filing of application forms, applicants are set to undergo the mandatory biometrics data capturing.

The voter registration period for the May 14, 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) started last November 6 and run until November 30. (PNA)
